Thursday, February 17, 2011

For many of you, this will be a return trip to the Entertainment Capital of the World and to the WPPI convention, but for some this will be your first time attending.  So whether you are a professional just getting started in the industry or a seasoned veteran, we would like to recommend a few of our friends to see while you are in town as well as maybe attend a party or two (or three).  We promise that what happens here, will stay here. ;)

Here is our recommended itinerary for the WPPI 2011 Convention:

February 20th
12:00pm – 2:00pm  Catch our friend Jared Platt at his Platform Class, The Photographer’s Eye:  Get inspired and elevate the level of your photography.  Not only is Jared an amazing photographer in his own right, but he is also an invaluable source of information for anything Lightroom related.

3:30pm – 5:30pm  Make sure to see photographer Mike Larson as he lectures about Defining Your Style and Vision.  Make sure to stick around for the second hour of his discussion as he will open the floor to a dialogue with some of the most important voices in our industry.

7:00pm – 10:00pm  Put on your finest couture and catwalk over to the Sony Fashion Show on this Sunday evening.  Sure to bring out the finest in eye catching fashions and haute couture, you will definitely want to make an appearance.

February 21st
8:00pm – 10:00am  Wake up early to catch photographer Jim Garner at his lecture, A Creative Explosion:  Reinvent, Simplify and Thrive.  So bring a cup of coffee and get ready to learn from someone who is considered to be one of the top 10 best wedding photographers in America,  by American Photo Magazine!

8:00pm – 10:00pm  If you are going to make it to just one party this year while at the convention, make sure its this one!  The Canon Mardi Gras Party is definitely one that you will both want to see and  be seen at!  Don’t forget to bring your best Mardi Gras outfit or mask!

February 22nd
3:00pm – 5:00pm  Jason Groupp will be lecturing on his 25 Lighting Scenarios in 25 Minutes.  This lighting and posing course will be invaluable to anyone who is interested in learning about 25 easy to remember lighting setups during a live shoot!

6:00pm – 8:00pm  A must see while you’re at the convention, please make sure to make time to see the Chief Executive of ShootDotEdit, and another amazing photographer in his own right, Jared Bauman.  His lecture on the Nuts and Bolts of Packaging and Pricing is an invaluable tool to any business or marketing strategy, so please make sure to come by and say hi!

February 23rd
8:00am – 10:00am  Make time during the final days of the convention to visit our dear friend and ShootDotEdit customer extraordinaire, Me Ra Koh who will inspire attendees with her symposium on Creating Confidence:  How to Succeed by shooting from your authentic heart!

11:00am – 1:00pm  SOAR! Garden Party.  Following Me Ra’s Platform Talk, Creating Confidence, a Limo Shuttle will whisk attendees from the MGM Valet area to the Little Chapel and back.
