Its time for our annual WPPI blog :)
Each year, over 15,000 folks gather in Las Vegas in what has turned into the largest gathering of pro wedding and portrait photographers. We are there every year, and this year is no different! And, because we know how overwhelming WPPI can be, we’ve also put together our recommended speaker track!

ShootDotEdit
Want to come say hi and meet the team? Have a friend that you want to introduce to ShootDotEdit’s services? We are at booth #1606 (map below). We would LOVE to put a face to a name, so please come by and say hi!!! Bring your friends, as we’ll have some nice signup bonuses :)

Recommended Speakers
Sunday:
12pm-1:30pm – Jared Bauman

For those of you that were lucky enough to see him on our Price, Process, Profit tour last year (San Diego, Austin, and Hawaii stops), he will be building on the hilarious yet poignant presentation he gave.

As we wrap up our 24 city workshop tour, we wanted to let you know about the educational events we’ll be participating in over the next few months!  We believe in the leaders who have organized these events and we’ll be there in full force at each of them!  Take a peak, see if any work for you, and make sure to stop by our booth and say hi!

Mystic Seminars – January 8-11, 2013

“To me, Mystic is special because it is not just about the seminars, it also puts photographers together as equals.  At many conferences that I attended, there is a division between the teachers and students, unlike Mystic, were we all sit together.  At Mystic, I have not only learned tools to make me a stronger photographer, but I have also made connection that have resulted in being mentored by some of the top photographers in the industry.”

Kristi O. (Past Multi Mystic Seminars Attendee)

Inspire Seminars – February 11-13, 2013

Inspire is a 2 ½ day retreat-style conference for professional wedding and portrait photographers. The event is designed to create an inviting learning experience where education, community and networking are the main focus. The conference is comprised of sessions on a variety of subjects, from business practices to shooting techniques, led by professional photographers from all over the United States with the majority residing in New England and the surrounding areas. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in mentoring round tables, small conference sessions, and one shooting workshop each. All meals are included with conference registration.

WPPI Conference - March 7-14, 2013

WPPI Conference+Expo is the premiere industry event for photographers and image-makers specializing in the creative and business aspects of wedding and portrait photography. Each year, nearly 16,000 professional and aspiring photographers attend WPPI to learn new techniques from industry leaders, build new relationships to grow their business, experience new products and solutions from major manufacturers to improve their productivity, and enjoy the many attractions in Las Vegas. WPPI is a week-long event combining educational seminars with a major industry trade show and networking events, all designed around learning the latest techniques, building new relationships and growing a businesses in a friendly, fun environment – all at one time, in one place.

If you have the time, you won’t regret visting any and/or all of these educational events!  And, well, then there is all the fun that comes along with ;)

Leeann Marie says Systems are Sexy

First up on our Price, Process, Profit Workshop FEATURE is Leeann Marie!  Leeann is unique in that she’s the only photographer that is speaking on every leg of the tour!

Our President Jared Bauman, on why he asked Leeann to be a part of the workshop:
“Leeann is a perfect compliment to the Price, Process, Profit Workshop, as she’s an absolute wiz at creating systems.  Becoming efficient, creating automation, having a system for your workflow – these things are so essential to running a functional and successful business.  She’s become the systems specialist through her small business consulting, and was the obvious choice for the workshop.”

Phase One and Phase Two Artistic Editing.

posted in Education,Inspiration,News,Reviews

Thursday, March 15, 2012

Whew! The bulk of the year’s weddings are done! Once you have some quality R&R over the holiday’s and new year, it will be time to review and renew your business for 2012! Winter time is historically the best time to do that!

There are many, many, many ways a professional photographer can make new strides towards improving their business. But, for the sake of this Blog post, we will focus one area of marketing that might make a big difference: updating your website, pre-plan your BLOG images, and/or collateral material to match all NEW and AWESOME images you photographed this year!

As a marketing solution, our Phase 1 and/or Phase 2 Artistic Editing services might be the perfect fit! And, so, “What’s the difference”, you ask? “What can I order, and what do I need to submit/do in order to get these services?”

Let us take a quick moment to explain the differences:

Phase One Artistic Edits – $3.00 Per image

A Phase 1 Artistic Edit elevates an image’s vibe and appearance far above the rest. This service is perfect for “Best Of,” Slideshows, and BLOG posts. We will take an accurately color processed image and apply professional creative saturation and contrast maneuvers, add vignetting, perform basic dodging & burning appropriations, and add other basic special effects and actions – in the effort to support your brand and signature. We can choose the images, or you can!

Check out the detailed example below!

Quick Steps to placing an order for Phase 1 Artistic Editing:

1. Ensure you have chosen your preferred Artistic Edit profile setting
2. Select that you want your “Images processed to JPG”
3. Choose Phase 1 Artistic Editing.
4. Make any custom image # choices/requests

Phase Two Artistic Edits – $60.00 for first hour

Phase 2 Artistic Edits encompass all other clinical image manipulations and enhancements. If you would like professional press print sharpening, cropping, straightening, facial retouching, swapping or opening eyes, hair retouching or removal, blemish removal, skin smoothing, replacement or removal of objects (i.e., signs, straps, cars, distracting elements, etc.), resizing, detailed color & saturation channel adjustments, or clinical burning & dodging, etc…then this is the service for you!

If you are thinking about using our Phase 2 Artistic Edit Service, we recommend taking advantage of our “Phase 2 Cost Survey”. This allows you to share with us exactly what you want and we can provide you a cost quote before you ever submit your job! CLICK HERE to get a quote!!

Of course, if you ever are uncertain if your request falls under Phase 1 or Phase 2 edits, please do not hesitate to reach out to us – a fast phone call, email, or LiveChat request can answer that question quickly for you. :)

Cheers to no more editing!

It’s Friday! That means Donuts, Donuts, Donuts!

posted in Inspiration

Friday, July 23, 2010

Well, it’s Friday :)   And, usually, we try and do a healthy round of donuts + coffee in the a.m.   And, well, Chris (our Shipping/Receiving guy) went for the gusto today and brought in a flying saucer disguised as a donut!  LOLOLL!!!  Happy Friday everyone.  PS, this was shot on a high-end 1st generation G1 phone that delivers about .05 megapixels per image.  Ahhh to the yeah!

We’re not just owners, we’re also customers. Looking at 2010.

posted in Company,Inspiration

Saturday, March 27, 2010

In 2006, Jared and I were at the end of our rope.  Serendipitously, we met at a private networking event and quickly realized our passion for photography and disdain for the ‘Post Production‘ requirements that come with it.  At the end of the evening, we new we needed to continue our conversation.

After several months of long meetings at coffee shops and a few fish tacos at our favorite taco stand, we decided to DO SOMETHING and solve our problem.  We went on a hunt to find the perfect post production gurus.  We spent long nights and countless hours designing micro systems for quality and efficiency.  Ultimately, about 6 months later we hired a full time editing crew and began living life free of post production.  Our studios were now free to soar.., and so were we.

Never in a million years did we imagine that our efforts to get our lives back and be set free from the mire of post production would also extend itself to the professional photography industry and become what is now known as ShootDotEdit.  Almost 4 years later, ShootDotEdit has the fortunate privilege of giving professional photographers their life back in a host of different ways.

Our commitment to lead the post production industry with dependable quality and swift turn around times is now allowing us to serve over 700 professional photographers in over 12 countries world wide.  As of 12 noon on December 31, 2009, we will have processed 1,756,285 images for our customers!  That equates to about a total of 19,691 hours of staring at the computer! And, well, we are very proud of that because that is 19,691 hours that our customers were able to put towards other areas of their life and business bringing more joy and more profit!

In conclusion, we want to send a very heartfelt thank you to all of our customers and supporters.  We are extremely excited about helping each of you advance and excel your businesses moving forward into this new year and new decade.  Thanks again everyone.  Onward and upward.  And, cheers to no more editing!
