Two months ago we launched our FREE Test Drive Service, and it’s been a HUGE hit! Well… except for the name. That caused a bit of confusion. Thanks to your feedback we have officially changed “Test Drive” to “DotPreview”!

WHAT IS IT?
Our DotPreview still has all of the wonderful features that our Test Drive had including:

* Pre-viewing 10 methodically selected images from across your event with your chosen Color Profile applied.
* Ability to change your Color Profile on your DotPreview as many times as you would like until you are completely satisfied.
* Need help or coaching on which Color Profile to choose? NO PROBLEMO! Our specially trained Color Specialists will help guide you to the right Color Profile.

HOW DO I GET IT?
Interested in ordering a DotPreview on your next event? Here’s how it works:

STEP 1: Choose DotPreview when placing your job order

STEP 2: We strategically choose 10 images from your job and color correct according to your chosen Color Profile then publish a private “Preview Gallery” for your approval (delivered in 1 business day or less).

STEP 3: Once you have decided on the best color profile for your job…., well, stop thinking about
post processing and get back to the stuff that makes you happy and makes you money.

Why should I submit my job in the Lightroom 3.0 Workflow?

Rick, a ShootDotEdit Color Consultant and Test Drive Guru, explains the benefits of a Lightroom Catalog saying, “You receive your final Job via email and, if you choose, you can still put your signature touch on your RAW images because Lightroom 3.0 (and similar RAW processing software) allows for non-destructive editing. Also, metadata that does not affect color (i.e. cropping and keywording) is preserved in the Lightroom Catalog. Lastly, the custom ShootDotEdit Lightroom Catalog has collections for “Must Keep” or “Artistic Edits” which keeps the job very organized, and allows you to give ShootDotEdit all sorts of additional information!”

So, how do you submit a job via our Lightroom Workflow? We will be posting each step as a four week process on our blog, but if you are interested in “skipping ahead” you can check out our Lightroom 3.0 Workflow on our Help Desk by clicking HERE!

Week One: Client Setup.

Here are the Step by Step instructions for the above video:

1. Login to your account using your Client ID # and Password.
2. Click on the “Submit Job” tab in the upper left.
3. Download the Custom SDE Lightroom Catalog.
4. Navigate to the location that the SDE Lightroom Catalog downloaded to.
5. Copy and Paste the Zipped Lightroom Catalog into the folder where your images are located.
6. You can now un-zip a new SDE Lightroom Catalog for each new event that is submitted.

One things that I end up doing to a small number of images after I get them back is cropping. Congratulations to Garrett and Kevin on winning the Eyes Closed Challenge! Their image below was the hands-down favorite by the SDE Team as well as YOU! :)

ShootDotEdit :: Fun Friday!

What happens when you take a few peeps from our Team, go outside for a little Friday ‘recess’, and throw a camera in the mix? An SDE Photo Adventure, with a twist!

The staff was divided into teams of two – one person controlled the camera but couldn’t look, and the other person was the ‘eyes’. They directed their teammate as to how and what to shoot. Each team had 5 minutes to shoot a total of three photos…and the laughter ensued! Our illustrious leader Garrett Delph and Customer Experience member Rachel Edwards documented the outing for our clients’ entertainment, with Rachel on the timer to keep the teams in check.

Garrett and Kevin had the challenge of being the first team to go.

Kim and Jake learned from watching the previous team; Jake took advantage of Kim’s height and was able to look through the viewfinder to compose a little better!

Our last team, Lisa and Travis, had a little extra time to think about what they wanted to shoot and got creative with their compositions!

Aside from being fun and giving everyone a break to do what they love most (photography and post production!), it also helped the team learn to work together better and work through communication and leadership issues.

Once back in the office, we narrowed it down to our favorite photo from each team, and then voted on our top favorite from the entire lot. Now, we are passing the torch on to you, our talented customers, so that you can use your artistic eyes to tell us which photo is YOUR favorite!

Let’s face it, as a Pro Wedding Photographer, it is a requirement to have a handle on “Data Workflow Management”. To be clear, we are not talking about “Editing”! Specifically, we are talking about how you prep, send, and receive, archive, and ultimately deliver your ShootDotEdit completed jobs (images).

Here is what we know, all Pro’s do it differently. Each of you have different computers, different computer specs, and different purchased software. To further, all of you have varied degrees of knowledge and understanding regarding organizational infrastructure as it relates to your computer software and hardware…., as they relate to your individual needs and want.

And so, we are going to start sharing with you the different ways ShootDotEdit customers manage their jobs with us. Kicking things off, we would like to introduce to your Leeann Marie. Leeann is a favorite of ours She’s based out of Pittsburgh, PA, and runs a wedding and boudoir studio. In her spare time, she also consults for ShootQ. Leeann is a whiz at efficiency and maximizing your time. This is why we’ve leaned on her for this video series. You’ll see that she’s brilliant on camera
